Adding reviews and business hours from Google Maps
Requirements
You’ll need a Google Maps API Key with the Places API enabled. This is essential for fetching the needed information.
Step 1: Get a Google Maps API Key
Visit the Google Cloud Console.
Create a new project (or select an existing one).
Navigate to APIs & Services > Credentials.
Click + Create Credentials → select API key.
Copy the generated key – you’ll use this to activate Mapstore.
Step 2: Enable the Places API
In the same Google Cloud project, go to APIs & Services > Library.
Search for Places API.
Click on Places API, then click Enable.
To prevent unauthorized use:
Set HTTP referrer restrictions (only allow your domains)
Enable billing on your Google Cloud account (required for map services)
Once your API key is ready and configured, go to the Settings page in Mapstore, and add the key under "Google Maps API key".
Step 5: Find the Google Place IDs
Use the Place ID Filder or Place ID Finder for Google Maps extension to find the place ID of the location you want to fetch reviews and hours for.
Step 6: Add the place ID
When creating or editing a store in Mapstore, you'll find the Google Place ID field where you need to add in the ID for that location.
If you're uploading stores using .csv files or are syncing through Google Sheets you can paste the ID into the designated column for a store.
